Well to start things off I want to say this. NEVER EVER USE UHAUL!!!! I will NEVER again! This is my second time using them and this time was a complete never ending nightmare!!! This was the email I sent corporate.
Well there were problems from the start. I had a reservation to pick up on sunday 8-2-2015. They failed to honor that reservation for pick up until the following day. 8-3-2015 Due to the fact that the original pick up location was no longer open on Sundays as WELL as the wrong address given to us by the lady that made the original reservation for pick up. Then she wanted us to pick one up in Plano Texas which was an hour away from my location. They compensated for that with extra mileage and 2 additional free days because I agreed to pick one up locally on the following day which was a day AFTER we needed to move. Then after driving the truck 8 hours with transmission problems we proceeded to drop it off a day early at the correct location assigned and they could not honor my 1 month free voucher. So the facility staff called and sent me to another location that they called and verified BEFORE we were sent over there to see if they had one available. They said they did and could honor the 1st month free. When we arrived 45 minutes later we were told that they could NOT inFACT honor the 1 month free and I was called a liar when I was standing in front of the guy at the previous office that called listening to the ENTIRE conversation. I heard the whole conversation and he was told over the phone that there was one available and would honor the 1st month free. The african american male beside the guy I was talking to called me a liar that they didnt say that on the phone from the previous location. Then the guy at the front desk called a 3rd location to verify to see if they had one available for the size we needed and again we were told yes however in the 100 plus degree weather with dogs and another car traveling behind. We were tired and hot and ready to unload the truck into a storage and return the truck that I was forced to keep and drive additional miles that were unnecessary. So I stood outside of the second location after being told there was nothing else they could do for me and I called 1800 Go Uhaul myself. I stood in the heat on the phone for an hour and a half talking to them trying to get them to let me get my things in storage at the second location where he said he had one available but would NOT honor the 1st month free. Trying to force me to pay money for a storage that I was owed free. The lady on the phone was nice and patient. HOWEVER!!!! YET AGAIN!!!! She sent me to a 3rd location where she called and verified that they had a storage available. I had no choice but to drive ANOTHER 45 minutes in traffic in the heat with animals across San Antonio at rush hour. When I arrived at the 3rd location YET AGAIN I was denied. The guy there told me that the lady on the phone from Go Uhaul failed to make my reservation so I was passed up. AGAIN!!!!!! I was forced to fuel this truck yet again looking for somewhere to put my things in storage to get rid of this AWFUL truck!!! By this time it was 6pm. We were tired of getting the run around the ENTIRE DAY!!!! The following morning, I decided to go with a storage facility different from UHAUL so I could return the truck and not be forced to put ANY more miles or gas in this truck that I would have to pay for. We FINALLY returned the truck at the first uhaul place I could find. And was ready to get my family and my dogs out of the truck. We were all over heating and spent way more money into that truck for gas driving around than I wanted to being sent from place to place to place. Morons run this business and I WILL NOT USE UHAUL EVER AGAIN!!!!!! They forced me to spend to much money in gas and were not at all helpful. The only person that was helpful was Garrett Staples at the San Pedro unit in San Antonio Texas when we were dropping it off. He was pleasant and seemed knowledgable. He informed me to call corporate to report our experience and I did. The lady on the phone did not care what so ever and was NOT at all helpful there either. She carried the attitude "What am I suppose to do about it?" I WILL NOT BE BACK!!! ILL TAKE MY MONEY ELSEWHERE AND ILL BE SURE TO LEAVE A REVIEW ON THE WEBSITE AND MY BLOG FOR MY TWITTER FOLLOWERS TO READ!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! We almost got heat exhaustion and they didnt care! I have strokes and nobody cared that I had been in the heat the entire day dealing with this. To make matters worse they could not even get the name right on the contract. It was suppose to be Glenda NOT Mellinda!!!
I was not offered anything other than an "Oh well deal with it attitude". This company seriously needs a customer service overhaul!!! You do not hold up to your promise of the first month free storage for one way moves even though your stickers in your trucks say they do. You do not let it be known that its conditional as to how they hold that up in the beginning and is VERY misleading. We depended on that knowing we were eligible for this deal with a one way move and did not receive it many times where ever we were sent and spent money in gas on this truck that we could not afford driving it around being sent from place to place.
